Trabzonspor’s pursuit of Southampton forward Mislav Oršić has ‘reached a happy ending’ as the Turkish side have ‘agreed in principle’ with the Croatian.
That’s according to TRT Spor, who say Trabzonspor have an agreement in place with both Southampton and the player for him to move to Turkey this summer.
They report that Oršić is keen to move on from Southampton after joining them in the January transfer window as part of their spending to improve their forward line that month.
The hope was that he could help the Saints’ fight against relegation but that did not prove to be the case, with his instead managing just six minutes of Premier League football before the end of the season.
Trabzonspor have been chasing his signature for several weeks as their coach Nenad Bjelica is a fan of the player following their time together at Dinamo Zagreb. Indeed, Oršić has not made more appearances for any other manager in his career to date.
Thus, a reunion in Turkey makes sense and Trabzonspor have been working to make that happen, albeit with little success.
It seems they’ve now managed to strike an agreement with Southampton for the transfer to take place, though, with an agreement in principle now in place.
That should mean Oršić can head to Turkey for a medical and complete the formalities sooner rather than later before bringing his miserable experience in England to an end.
