Newcastle United are ‘also in the mix’ for Leeds United defender Robin Koch as his contract situation make him something of a bargain.
That’s according to BILD, who explain the situation around the German defender following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.
They report that Koch is basically available on a free this summer, with a clause in his contract at Elland Road meaning he is free to leave on loan this summer before departing on a free next year when his deal expires.
Eintracht Frankfurt are keen and in ‘constant contact’ with the player’s agents, already presenting a proposal to the player and what a move could entail.
The Leeds man could well imagine a return to the Bundesliga too, but he also has suitors in the Premier League and Newcastle are ‘also in the mix’ for him.
They could pay him a higher salary and the chance to play in the Champions League next season, something that hasn’t been discredited by the player.
He is yet to make a decision about his future and wants to take a few more days before doing so, especially as he’s learned there are two more sides in the Bundesliga, other than Frankfurt and Leverkusen, who are interested in him.
Newcastle could certainly beat those sides in terms of attractiveness, but at the moment it appears they are yet to make a firm offer for him.
