This summer, we’re seeing Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu returning to Stamford Bridge following a loan spell at Spezia.
The 22-year-old had been a regular starter at the Serie A side, who wanted to keep him but ended up giving up.
Now as Citta Della Spezia today features a story on the Chelsea player, they say the deal only didn’t happen because of the club’s relegation.
The outlet says Ampadu ‘was ready’ the move and Chelsea would get 50% of a future transfer. However, ‘relegation changed that’.
Now the defender is returning to the Blues, but shouldn’t stay there for long.
That’s because the Stamford Bridge side have reportedly put him up for sale, as his contract with the club expires in a year.
Ampadu joined Chelsea on a €2.8m move from Exeter City inn 2017.
Since then, he had loans at RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia, and only ever made 12 appearances for the Blues.
