On Friday morning, reports from Brazil revealed Vasco da Gama’s interest in Southampton defender Lyanco.
It was claimed the 26-year-old was ‘suggested’ to the Rio de Janeiro side, who had already made contact to know the conditions for a deal.
It didn’t take long and SBT journalist Lucas Pedrosa shares an update saying Vasco have placed a bid for Lyanco.
The offer is said to be in Southampton’s hands, and the player is keen on making the move. The bid is for a season-long loan, for which the Brazilian club would pay €1m, plus the obligation to buy depending on performance bonuses.
Those bonuses are reportedly related to Vasco staying in the first division, plus the centre-back starting a certain percentage of their games.
In a bit of a strange clause, it’s claimed that with the loan, Vasco want 10% of Lyanco’s future sale.
It’s still to be said whether Southampton will accept the deal. Since it was reported that Lyanco was also offered to other Brazilian clubs, perhaps there’ll be more sides moving for the player in the coming weeks.
