Crystal Palace are ‘asking for €8m’ for striker Jean Philippe Mateta this summer as he ‘wants to leave’ Selhurst Park.
That’s according to Tuttosport, relayed by Toro News, who say the striker is very much available and Crystal Palace fans ‘would not regret’ any departure.
They explain that Odsonne Edouard has always been preferred ahead of him at Palace, while Jordan Ayew has also been more of a regular under Patrick Vieira and Roy Hodgson.
The reality is that the Eagles have never seen the best of the striker, particularly the best bits that he showed at Mainz, and thus nobody would be that sorry to see him leave.
Indeed, there is a belief that a change of scenery may be good for him.
Crystal Palace are ‘asking for €8m’ to make that happen and it’s not clear yet whether Torino would be willing to pay that figure.
Given the Italian reluctance to spend money across the board, it seems unlikely, but the interest is there nonetheless and the asking price set for negotiations to start.
