Manchester United could be interested in Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, as Erik ten Hag is ‘charmed’ by the Moroccan star.
That’s according to his brother Nordin, who believes that Ten Hag would like a reunion with the player he coached at FC Utrecht.
Amrabat has been heavily linked with a move away from Fiorentina since the World Cup, where he was one of the key players in Morocco’s run to the semi-finals of the competition.
There was reportedly plenty of Premier League interest in him in the January transfer window, but he ended up staying with La Viola despite the claims.
That interest has not gone away, though, and he continues to be linked with a possible move to England after again impressing for Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League.
They eventually signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich, but he won’t be staying permanently and with the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay both linked with moves away, they could be in the market in that area again.
Amrabat would certainly be keen on that, with his brother insisting he would want a top four side like Manchester United above anything else on offer in England.
“He is doing well at Fiorentina. You are not going to trade Italy for the middle bracket of the Premier League,” he said.
“My brother is 26 years old; he wants to go to the top. Of course, you never know, it (Saudi Arabia) will be a strong competition when you see which names are going. But my brother now has the intention to play in the top, preferably in Spain or England, I think.
“I think in January (United showed interest). But Ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible.
“But I know that Ten Hag is charmed by my brother, he broke through under him. And they have a good relationship, so who knows.”
