When Real Madrid announced Karim Benzema would be leaving the club, it became clear Los Blancos would likely turn their attention to Harry Kane.
They’d already been linked in the past few weeks, with media close to Madrid saying it was expected any deal would drag out through the summer, in much the same way things happened with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.
That wasn’t deemed to be an issue for Madrid because they already had Benzema, and with the Frenchman leaving it changes perspectives somewhat.
Sport report that Real Madrid continue to pursue Kane, and that the player feels he’s earned the right to make a decision over his future.
Regardless of that, and ‘despite everything’ else, including his contract situation, Tottenham are still said to be asking for more than €100m.
Sport say that in order to try and drag the price down, Real Madrid will attempt to use one of their own players in a deal for the England captain.
Whether Tottenham would be up for that is highly questionable and there’s no obvious options that Real Madrid would gladly see the back of and Spurs also welcome.
