Rafa Benitez being in charge of Newcastle for the foreseeable future, albeit in the Championship, has made the Spanish media covering some of the smaller clubs in Spain rather excited.
Knowing he won’t be able to attract big name players to England second-tier, you would expect the former Liverpool and Real Madrid to target younger players, ones he can bring to Newcastle, nurture for one season in the Championship and let free in the Premier League if they get promoted.
AS in Spain have a very short but nonetheless interesting article about Tenerife’s Nano, a 21-year-old centre-forward who enjoyed a relatively prolific season in Spain’s second division.
Scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances for the club, the youngster is aware of the interest in him (it’s not only coming from Newcastle), and would be prepared to leave the club, but only on one condition.
He said: “If there’s any offer that can help benefit myself and the club, then we can sit down and talk.”
Alongside Rafa Benitez and Newcastle stand Granada, Betis Seville, Deportivo La Coruña and Sporting Gijón, and you’d probably expect him to choose a move to La Liga over the Championship.
That said, there might only be one club capable to make an offer that would benefit Nano and the club, and we all know who that is.
