Chelsea star Kai Havertz ‘would be delighted’ to leave the club this summer and join Real Madrid, should they make a move for him.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the German ‘is the candidate’ for those in charge at the club.

They explain that Madrid chiefs Florentino Pérez, Ancelotti and José Ángel Sánchez met last Thursday to discuss next season and talk about signings and departures.

That meeting saw them outline the sporting plan at the club and one of them is to find a replacement for Karim Benzema, even if he ends up staying at the club.

Several names have been presented as options and Chelsea star Havertz is one of the ones who has been tipped as a main target for the market.

Their interest in the 23-year-old is not new as they have been after him for a long time, and he could have been a Real Madrid player three years ago before his move to Chelsea.

That move was cancelled thanks to the pandemic, which caused Madrid to decide not to sign anyone at that moment in time. Havertz thus ended up at Stamford Bridge.

The German is not happy at Chelsea, though, and ‘would be delighted’ to leave If there is an opportunity to do so. Madrid value him for his versatility in attack, where he can play as a midfielder, on the right and as a centre-forward.

They would be interested in a deal regardless of the situation around Karim Benzema, who looks set to remain at the club until 2024 despite interest from Saudi Arabia.
