Portuguese side Sporting reportedly remains in a strong pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion fullback Tariq Lamptey.

Newspaper Record today features a story highlighting that Lions’ manager Ruben Amorim has as a ‘priority’ a replacement for Hector Bellerin this summer.

Sporting had already tried to sign Lamptey from Brighton in January, but couldn’t match the Seagulls’ demands.

The English side wanted €25m for the sale, and in case of a loan, they’d like that to be tied to an obligatory buying clause.

Record claims that the price hasn’t decreased much, but Sporting are willing to make a new attempt. Only in case they fail, they’ll go for the alternative on the table, which is Basel’s Dan Ndoye.

Lamptey made 26 appearances for Brighton this season, and the Lions apparently count on his little playing time to convince him to move to Lisbon.

Now besides Sporting’s difficulty to match the price demanded by Brighton, we shall see whether the player would accept leaving the Premier League and move to Portugal, where the Lions won’t even be in the Champions League next season.
