Bayern Munich are confident they can beat Arsenal and Chelsea to the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham United this summer as they are more appealing than the Premier League duo.
That’s according to Kicker, who say Rice is considered the ‘absolute dream candidate’ for Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel.
The newspaper explains that Tuchel is absolutely determined to secure Rice’s signature this summer and has ‘already met’ the midfielder in person to discuss the move to Bavaria. Former Bayern chief Hasan Salihamidzic has also been in contact with the West Ham man.
That is coming from Arsenal and Chelsea but according to Kicker’s information, Rice will not be returning to the Blues, where he was released as a youngster, and he will also not be joining Arsenal as they ‘do not have the appeal’ Bayern do.
In fact, the only club who could claim to have that appeal would be Manchester City, but they don’t need a player in that position as they have Rodri already.
It is in that where ‘Bayern’s hope’ lies. They believe that their appeal and sheer size can help them get Rice from West Ham ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea.
Meetings have already taken place and the transfer process seems to be well underway, led primarily by Thomas Tuchel’s determination to get him.
