In the past few months, the Italian media have had several stories about Leeds United youngster Wilfried Gnonto, many times claiming Serie A clubs were interested in having him back in the country.
With the Whites relegated to the Championship, that seemed like a perfect opportunity for clubs to make their moves and take him from Elland Road.
However, despite the perfect scenario, the Italian press takes a step back today, with TuttoMercatoWeb claiming Gnonto may actually stay at Leeds.
The outlet features a piece speaking of the players who could leave the Whites this summer, and when writing about the 19-year-old, they mention the links with Juventus and Manchester City.
Still, they end up claiming that the possibility of him staying at Leeds to play in the Championship is ‘not so far fetched’.
Gnonto arrived at the English club following a summer deal with FC Zurich, and is well protected with a contract until 2027.
In recent interviews, he’s insisted he’s happy with his time at Leeds, and it does make sense if he doesn’t force his way out this summer.
