Last week, Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku admitted a decision has to be made over his future in the summer.
The Blues striker has been on loan at Inter Milan since last summer and has now made a transfer ‘promise’. That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the 30-year-old ‘only wants Inter’.
Lukaku scored in the Nerazzurri’s 3-2 win over Atalanta in the last tie and the report says his celebration was an indication of a ‘clear message’ that he wants to continue at the San Siro.
After this seaosn, the Belgium international will have to return to Chelsea, where Mauricio Pochettino is set to become their new manager.
The report says the Argentine wants to focus on Lukaku but it would be best for him to understand as soon as possible that the player has other ideas. For the Belgian to continue in Milan, the Italian club not only have to untie the knot with Pochettino, but also with Chelsea.
Inter aren’t ready to invest €70m on Lukaku and therefore, a new loan deal is needed. The current loan deal cost them €8m plus bonuses and they are now ‘asking for a discount’ from the Premier League side. The ‘game is to be played’ from this point.
The report states it’s easier for Inter to agree a deal with the striker over wages as he wants to continue with them.
They have to agree a new loan deal with Chelsea for Lukaku to return to Milan in the summer.
