Aston Villa target Marco Asensio now has ‘a foot and a half’ out of Real Madrid, according to Marca.
The outlet writes that following a meeting on Friday with club general director Jose Angel Sanchez, the chance of a contract renewal is ‘moving away’.
Marca says that right now, his departure is the most likely scenario, and a final decision could be made in a week.
Unai Emery’s side, however, are not to be alone in the race, as ‘many other teams’ are interested in signing the 27-year-old as a free agent.
The main issue for his renewal at Real Madrid is that he’s not of big use for the club, and they’re having difficulty finding a reason to keep him in the squad.
Aston Villa’s plan had first been said to be an idea of Mateu Alemany, but it seems that even with the director not arriving at the club, the winger remains an option for the summer window.
