Since Burnley’s Championship title, Clarets’ fullback Vitinho has been getting acknowledged by his home country’s media.
The Brazilian press has been holding several interviews with him, and the latest of them was with Placar.
Speaking to the Burnley player, they told him that the Championship had 22 players at the World Cup, and he pointed out how competitive the league is.
“Every game is difficult, you have to study the opponent, go in mentally well. A small mistake you make, the game changes, things start to go wrong. Those are teams that are there to fight for the Premier League, they all have conditions.”
“My mind changed after I came to Europe, because I wanted to play for Barcelona, Real Madrid, in Spain. And I only went to see what England really was after I arrived in Europe. I was talking to one of the most experienced players on our team, and he said to me: now we’re going to experience real football. Playing the Premier League is not for everyone.”
Vitinho had been playing for Belgian side Cercle Brugge, and was a request from Vincent Kompany at Burnley, who signed him for just €1m last summer.
It didn’t take long for him to adapt to English football, and he made 41 appearances for the Clarets this season, with 35 games in the Championship.
Despite the many interviews he’s been giving to the Brazilian media, he never feeds any transfer rumours, and always claims to be focused on playing in the Premier League and fighting for a place in the national team, whom he’s represented with the U-20 squad.
