Rumoured Liverpool target Jurriën Timber has revealed he and his agents have held talks with Ajax about his future.
The defender has been speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, relayed by MSN, about his future at the club ahead of what is likely to be another summer full of transfer rumours.
He was heavily linked with a move away from the club last summer, when it appeared Manchester United would go all out to secure his signature and reunite him with Erik ten Hag.
That move never happened and he remained in the Netherlands, continuing his development and earning himself more admirers.
That was followed by a claim that Timber was likely to move to Anfield this summer, with a big rebuild expected there and at Ajax.
The Dutch giants won’t let their player leave without a fight, though, and it seems they have already moved to talk to Timber and his agent about the future.
“I met him (Sven Mislintat) here at De Toekomst and then we spoke briefly and one-on-one,” he said.
“He spoke longer with my agent. As far as I know, Ajax wants to keep me here. Beyond that, I can hardly say anything about it. Talks about that will probably follow soon.
“Actually, I am now in the same situation as last year. I don’t know yet whether I will make that step now. I’m happy to be at Ajax. Here you can always show yourself.”
