Burnley star Manuel Benson has insisted he plans on staying with the club this summer, although “anything is possible” in terms of a potential transfer.
The winger has been speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws about this season and what the future may hold for him and Burnley.
The 26-year-old joined the Clarets in a €4m deal from Royal Antwerp in the summer and went on to establish himself as a key player under Vincent Kompany this season, playing a key role in their return to the Premier League with 12 goals and three assists in 33 games in the league.
That’s earned him a glowing reputation at Burnley and is unlikely to have gone unnoticed in the Premier League, where clubs are always keen to snap up players who have shined in the Championship.
He, therefore, can’t rule out anything happening, although he insists that he is not planning a move away from Turf Moor just yet.
“I have the intention to stay,” he said.
“You know it has always been my dream to play in the Premier League. In football, anything is possible – I’ve been in the world long enough to know that. I don’t put any pressure on myself.
“I just hope I can fulfil that dream. That’s always more fun when you can do it at a club where they already know you. Playing football against Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City… The level is even higher.
“But I took steps forward last season, became calmer. I choose my moments more; I now know when to try certain things during the match. And I’m always ready.”
