As Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez continues to recover from his foot injury, it seems he’ll focus on getting to pre-season is his best shape.
Reports from Argentine now claim that the 25-year-old is set to miss the national team’s upcoming tour in Asia.
According to TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul, the defender will not join the World Champions just so he can recover in time for Manchester United’s pre-season, which kicks off on the 12th of July.
Martinez is then set to miss the friendlies against Indonesia and China which will take place in June.
With 45 appearances for Manchester United this season, the centre-back fractured his metatarsal in April, and after surgery, was soon ruled out for the rest of the season.
The Red Devils still fight for a place in the Champions League, as well as the FA Cup title against Manchester City, and Erik ten Hag has been forced to use alternative options in their defensive line.
Following the World Cup title, Argentina are currently playing friendlies in preparation for Copa America 2024, which is being hosted in the United States.
