Nice manager Didier Digard has insisted he is not concerned about owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe potentially taking over at Manchester United.
The Nice boss has been speaking to RMC Sport ahead of his side’s clash with Strasbourg on Saturday, when the subject of Ratcliffe’s bid for Manchester United was brought up.
The Nice owner is currently battling with Sheikh Jassim for control at Old Trafford, with both presenting offers to the Glazers, who are intending to sell the club, or even a stake in it.
Various reports have put both sets of bidders as the ‘preferred’ one for the current owners at different points, with it still not clear who is at the front of the queue.
A report yesterday indicated it was Ratcliffe and his INEOS group who were set to be identified as the ones the Glazers wanted to sell to.
Should INEOS and Ratcliffe be successful they would add Manchester United to a growing list of football clubs they own, including Nice and FC Lausanne Sport.
The fear for them is that attentions could turn solely to United given their size and importance, but Digard, who manages Nice, says he has no such fears personally.
“No, very sincerely,” he said when asked if he was worried about the situation.
“For me, Manchester United is something else. I don’t think we’re dependent on that at all.
“The boss has made such an investment in Nice that, sincerely, if he can give himself the gift of Manchester United, I would be happy for him because we know that it is something that is close to his heart.
“Above all else we know that he won’t disengage from OGC Nice. So, for us, that won’t change anything. I can guarantee to you that people are giving 100% to make this club grow.”
