Bournemouth and Burnley have both recently seen bids to buy KV Kortrijk rejected as owner Vincent Tan demands more money for the Belgian club.
That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, who say the duo have made bids to add Kortrijk to their network.
The newspaper explains that Kortrijk are currently looking for a new head coach, CEO and chairman for next season after announcing on Friday evening that CEO Matthias Leterme and chairman Ronny Verhelst had decided to leave.
They have cited the ‘unreasonable attitude’ of Vincent Tan, the club’s current owner, when it comes to selling the club, as something that had motivated their departures.
There are interested parties too, with Bournemouth and Burnley having ‘recently made offers’ to take over the club. They were refused by the Malaysian, though.
He bought Kortrijk for €5m in 2015 but now wants €17.5m to sell, having raised his asking price from €12m in a matter of months. It was that decision which led Leterme and Verhelst to depart, with the pair making it clear they cannot work under Tan any longer.
Whether he eventually sells, or Burnley and Bournemouth come back with improved offers, remains to be seen.
