Manchester United have added Sporting Club de Portugal defender Gonçalo Inácio to their list of options as they look to sign a defender in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Record, who say the 21-year-old is ‘one of the most coveted’ players in Europe after his performances this season.
They explain that the player has made himself one of the cornerstones of Rúben Amorim’s team this season and that has aroused interest, particularly as his current release clause is €45m.
He’s one of the most wanted defenders in Europe thanks to being a left-footed centre back who is also capable of playing on the right and is still young to boot.
They’re aware that Sporting need to sell at least one payer this summer to raise funds as they are looking likely to miss out on Champions League football next season.
They need to move quickly, though, with the Portuguese side working hard to get the youngster signed to a new deal that will add a year to his deal and increase his release clause significantly. They want that to be €80m, but Inácio is refusing to go beyond €70m.
Either way, Manchester United are keen and O Jogo say that there is a belief at the club that ‘a proposal may arrive at any moment’ from them or any of his other suitors.
