Crystal Palace have their eyes set on Flamengo’s Matheus França, according to Globo Esporte.
The Eagles will send a scout to monitor the 19-year-old closely against Ñublense at the Maracanã later today.
Crystal Palace haven’t made an official offer and haven’t opened formal talks with the Brazilian club for the attacking midfielder.
It’s claimed ‘there is an expectation’ for Crystal Place to make an ‘official proposal’ for the Brazil U20 international.
Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor, who also has a stake in Botafogo, is well aware that França cannot move to another Brazilian club. Therefore, if there’s a deal, his intention is to take him to Europe. The American has been impressed with the midfielder for a year.
Back in February, França signed a new contract until 2027 and it has a €200m clause. This puts Flamengo, who are in no rush to negotiate his sale, in a comfortable position.
Despite this, a sale remains possible in the coming months. On April 6th, journalist Mauro Sant Anna reported it’s ‘inevitable’ Flamengo will sell França in the summer.
