Bournemouth’s trip to Old Trafford on Saturday was full of talking points, unfortunately few of those talking points were about actual goals. Marcos Rojo was the unlikely man to open the scoring for Manchester United, but when Phil Jones momentarily lost control of his thoguht process, Bournemouth were handed the chance to equalise with a penalty.
Then the game settled into a pattern of Manchester United attempting to find a winner and not being able to summon up the quality to do so. Artur Boruc made a few good saves but it may be considered surprising his performance was good enough for a place in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week.
Boruc played well but it wasn’t one of his very best performances, with Manchester United also facing better goalkeeping performances so far this season.
Nevertheless, the Bournemouth stopper is in the selection, in a team which also includes Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema.
