Having taken over midway through the season, Julen Lopetegui has only just started his work at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Spanish manager arrived at Molineux after an unsuccessful start to the season with Sevilla, and immediately got to work to improve Wolves’ situation.
He has done an exemplary job, with the club now four points clear of the relegation zone, but the work is not over just yet, as explained by Fichajes.
That’s why the Wolves manager wants to ensure that, once they manage to avoid the drop to the Championship, the squad is improved to avoid a repeat of this year.
One of the clubs he could raid is Sevilla, where Lopetegui has targeted ‘one of the most important players’ to improve his squad.
That’s Marcos Acuña, and the Spanish manager, ‘knowing his quality’, wants him by his side, now making the Argentina international, who represented his country at the World Cup, ‘one of the main candidates’ to leave the La Liga club in the summer alongside Bono.
Sevilla, down their end, are ‘looking to make cash’, but they also know that replacing someone like the Argentine would be difficult and would only let him leave for an ‘irresistible offer’.
