Technically only playing one full season at the Hawthorns during his time at West Brom, Borja Valero only has fond memories of his time in England.
Back in December, the player told Gazzetta dello Sport: “The support in England is wonderful. Look at when I played for West Brom, we were relegated, and at the end of the last game they wanted us to do a walk around the pitch for applause. Here or in Spain it would never have happened”.
The fee Fiorentina would expect stands somewhere in between €8-12m, a fair valuation when taking into account what he can still bring to a team, as well as a contract ending in 2019.
Of course, for this to happen, he would need a Premier League team to be interested in his services, and it seems unlikely that Tony Pulis would consider bringing him back to the Hawthorns when his last couple of midfield targets were William Carvalho and Ignacio Camacho.
A return to England to a promoted team like Brighton, rather than West Brom, who will be looking for added experience, certainly could be an option for the Spanish midfielder.
That, or he’ll end up in Spain somewhere.
