There’s no denying that if it was entirely up to Diego Llorente, the Spanish defender would leave Leeds United permanently and settle at AS Roma for good.
The player was sent to the Serie A side on loan in January with an option to buy set at €18m, and while he took some time to make a space for himself in José Mourinho’s plans, he has impressed of late with his performances.
Having included the clause in the deal, it was clear that Leeds were hoping for Llorente to stay far away from Elland Road, and that’s something the 29-year-old wants, as explained by Forza Roma.
He replied: “I’m fine here, I would like that.”
As previously explained, Roma are currently working to try and reduce that €18m fee, and a lot could depend on how Leeds end the season.
That’s because they are in the middle of a relegation battle, and if they were to go back down to the Championship, the price would ‘automatically drop’.
Down their end, the Italians’ aim is to ‘not exceed €10m’.
