Tottenham ‘promising to move forward’ with ‘official’ bid for signing – Club identify replacement

Tottenham Hotspur have ‘referenced’ Sporting’s Manuel Ugarte as a target, according to Record.

Operating as a defensive midfielder, he’s starred for the Lions this season, featuring 39 times in all competitions.

That has helped the 21-year-old attract interest from Tottenham, who have plans to make an offer in the summer.

It’s claimed Tottenham are ‘promising to move forward with an official proposal’ for the Uruguay international in the next window. His deal expires in 2026 and includes a €60m release clause.

Despite his importance, Sporting are considering a sale. That’s because they have placed the South American’s name on top of the list to make cash in the summer. The Lions must raise funds before bringing in new faces to the club.

The north London club have recently dealt with Sporting, when they signed Pedro Porro towards the end of the January window.

Spurs had dragged the negotiations throughout the winter market for Porro and Sporting would want to avoid a similar situation with Ugarte in the summer.
