Fulham defender Kenny Tete has insisted there is no bad blood between him and Netherlands boss Ronaldo Koeman, despite his recent comments criticising him.
The defender has been speaking to Viaplay, relayed by Voetbal International, in the Netherlands after Koeman came out to try and quell something of a growing fall out with the Fulham man.
Tete has been impressing for Marco Silva’s side this season, making the right-back spot his own and earning plenty of rave reviews for his performances.
That was not enough to convince Koeman to make him a part of the Netherlands’ squad for this international break, though, with him preferring other options in the position.
Fortunately for him, Koeman took the situation in his stride, insisting that there was no issue and he would instead phone Tete to speak to him about the decision.
Now the Fulham man has admitted what he said may have been a case of his emotions getting the better of him.
“I’m not saying what he says is right or wrong,” he said.
“Things are always said out of emotion. That’s not bad at all. We are human beings, and we say things out of emotion. That’s very nice.
“I had a very good relationship with him, and I really enjoyed working under him. If he calls me, he calls me. I understand he called some other guys. Not me yet. Maybe it will, maybe not. So be it.”
