With João Palhinha having a very good first season with Fulham, his former club Sporting have a good reason to celebrate that.
That’s today explained by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, who recall that when negotiating the midfielder’s transfer to the English club last summer, the Lions kept 10% from the profit of a future move.
Since Palhinha is currently linked to other Premier League clubs, it’s said Sporting could soon make a ‘significant amount’ with his potential transfer.
A Bola takes the rumours which have been saying the player could move for €45m to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. That would give Sporting an extra €2.5m.
Besides that percentage of a future move, Fulham are also set to pay Sporting €1m, as the agreement had an add-on tied to the Whites’ permanence in the Premier League, which looks like pretty much guaranteed now.
Palhinha joined the Craven Cottage side for an initial amount of €20m, signing a contract until 2027. So far, he has 29 appearances and four goals for the club.
