“It won’t be easy” – Club ready to try again and again to sign Everton man, will cost ‘more than €10m’

PSV Eindhoven remain keen on signing Jarrad Branthwaite on a permanent basis from Everton this summer but his price tag is a problem.

That’s according to Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer, via Voetbal Primeur, who says it will be difficult for the Dutch giants to get a deal done.

Branthwaite has been on loan with PSV since the summer, when he departed Everton on a temporary basis in search of regular, first-team football.

He has found that after a slow start under Ruud van Nistelrooy, establishing himself in the heart of PSV’s defence and impressing.

It’s been made clear for several months that they would like to sign him on a permanent basis from Everton this summer, perhaps using some of the funds from selling Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke to do so.

Those talks are yet to yield any success, though, with Everton proving resistant and yet to decide on the youngster’s future, particularly with them still fighting against relegation from the Premier League.

That is playing it’s part but Timmer says there is another aspect holding things up, and that is the financial outlay for PSV.

“PSV has already tried to buy Branthwaite a few times,” he told the Skiete Willy Podcast.

“They will still try to keep that boy, but it won’t be easy. You are talking about amounts of more than €10m.

“It is a lot for PSV. Especially when you get out of the position where you say you have to take a step back.”
