Following his exit from Leeds United, goalkeeper Elia Caprille has been having a very good season at Bari, and besides drawing the interest from other clubs, that also led him to Italy’s U-21 national team.

The 21-year-old has today an interview featured by the Azzurri’s official channels where he talks about his path to the place where he stands now.

There, he discussed his time at Leeds United, praising the experience he had at Elland Road.

“Leeds was a learning experience on and off the pitch, trivially also for learning a new language,” Elia Caprille told FIGC.

“There were great players in that team: from Raphinha to Phillips, and then Bielsa on the bench. Although the ‘Loco’ legend is around him, he is a top coach. He left me a lot on a personal level too: a real man, who spoke to us about football, but also about the history of a his miner friend, who looks down but never loses sight of the light. He spoke to us about what it meant for him to live away from home, from his family. And then he spoke to us about dreams.”

Caprille joined Leeds on a move from Chievo in 2020, but he didn’t get many chances to play for the Whites, eventually being loaned to Pro Patria for the 2021/22 season and then negotiated with Bari on a permanent exit last summer.

That means he couldn’t even make his debut for the English club, despite going to the bench a few times.

As reported by the Italian media, when letting the goalkeeper move to Bari, Leeds kept the percentage of a future move.

So the Whites are certainly interested in how well he’s been doing in Italy, as he’s been linked to a summer transfer and part of that money will end up at Elland Road.
