Conceicao Twitter message for Leicester City over manager role
Leicester City’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool on Monday night brought two stories. Leicester City’s players have faced further questioning given they suddenly found good form after Caludio Ranieri’s sacking, and Jurgen Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool is increasingly losing its shine.
Whatever the reason for Leicester’s improved form, it’s put Craig Shakespeare in a good position to get the job on a longer term basis. The caretaker manager has made no secret of his willingness to continue in a more senior role, and there’s a reasonable chance he’ll now be appointed until the end of the season.
Behind the scenes, Leicester have been sounding out other possibilities, and one of those has been Sergio Conceicao.
Nantes’ chairman Waldemar Kita spoke to the French media on Monday and ruled out the possibility of his manager moving to Leicester: “That he’s been contacted means that he’s good, but I don’t see how he could be going there, because he has a contract and there’s no way he’s leaving now or at the end of the season.
“For me, there’s nothing to talk about. If Juventus or Inter Milan came forward, I’d understand, but not Leicester who are fighting against relegation, especially when he’ll be able to aim for a very big club in two to three years.”
Conceicao took the step of opening a Twitter account on Monday, and his first message made it clear he intends to remain where he is.

Given all of this, it’s understandable that L’Equipe report Nantes are ‘calm’ about the situation, and approaching their upcoming matches with no worry about Leicester City.
The French newspaper had been leading with the story and they pretty much close it down in their Tuesday edition.
Unless something changes, Conceicao has absolutely no intention of managing Leicester City until the end of the season.
Given the immediate change under Shakespeare, Leicester may not mind.
