Arriving in the January of 2020 at Aston Villa, Ally Samatta was something of a panic buy after Wesley Moraes ruptured his cruciate ligament on New Year’s Day.
He led the line at Villa Park for the second half of the season, but only found the back of the net once, which was in a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth on his debut.
The Tanzania international was then sent on loan to Fenerbahce by Aston Villa, where he was sold the following summer for €6m.
He has been there since, but has spent his time on loan elsewhere over the past two campaigns, having returned to KRC Genk for the current season.
Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, he declared his love for the country and took a small swipe at Aston Villa in the process.
He said: “I think everyone knows that I still want to play football here in the coming years. I’ve been in many places. Nowhere have I felt as good as in Genk. After my career, I would like to stay here with my wife and three children.
“They still live Africa. Genk are loaning from Fenerbahce and have a purchase option. It can be exercised at the end of the season, so I still have to be patient.”
