Wolverhampton Wanderers are coming for the signing of Palmeiras star Raphael Veiga, according to claims from Brazil.

The information is shared by Donos da Bola host Neto. There, he claimed to have a couple of pieces of information about the Verdão’s future moves.

He first said that Veiga will be on his way to Wolves next year, and then says Palmeiras will then buy Pedrinho, from Atlético-MG, to replace him.

“The information I have: First, Raphael Veiga will leave Palmeiras. Not this year. He will be sold for next year,” said Neto.

“Raphael Veiga will leave Palmeiras next year. He goes to the English team. What’s the team called? Wolverhampton. He goes to this team. He will be bought and next year he won’t be here.”

“If next year this doesn’t happen, then Palmeiras comes and boots me. Send the PR to say that it’s a lie. Tell the president to say that it is a lie. And it’s all good with me, it’s no problem.”

Well, that’s a lot being said all of a sudden, so there’s a couple of things we must point out first.

Firstly: Neto may be one of the most famous people in Brazil’s sports media, being a great presenter and funny personality. But he’s not a journalist, and that means his reputation is not on the line when he says something like that. That’s why he makes it clear he’s not afraid of being wrong about his information.

Then there’s the affirmation that Veiga would only move to Wolves next year. It’s fair to say it doesn’t make a lot of sense for the Molineux side to invest now in a 27-year-old who would only join them in 2024. But it does sound reasonable for Palmeiras, who are in good financial condition following the sales of Endrick and Danilo, and could enjoy having the midfielder for the whole Brazilian season before letting him go in January.

Raphael Veiga has been doing great for the club in the past few years, and currently has 66 goals and 23 assists in 203 appearances, despite being a midfielder. Last year, he was called up by Brazil, but didn’t have the chance to make his debut.
