With Bayern Munich set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, DAZN sat down with Sadio Mané, who swapped Liverpool for Bavaria in the summer.
The Senegalese forward was, of course, asked about Jürgen Klopp during the interview, as the German manager remains a popular figure in his home country, and the player forged a great relationship with him during their time at Anfield together.
The article was published on Monday, less than 24 hours after Liverpool’s dismantling of Manchester United, but was likely recorded before.
Either way, the comments about Klopp will have been the same, as the forward spoke about the Reds manager’s temperament, comparing it to that of Julian Nagelsmann, his current boss.
“(Nagelsmann) is rather calmer. In terms of football, I don’t see any major differences. They like types of players who press high, because their teams are high. It’s easier for me because I’ve almost only had German coaches in my career.”
During his time at Liverpool, all of which was under Klopp, Mané made 269 appearances in all competitions, scored 120 goals and set up another 48 for his teammates, excelling alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
He left last summer after six years with the Reds, with Bayern Munich spending €32m to bring his services to Germany.
