In the early days of January, it was claimed that Newcastle United were interested in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Manu Koné.
The midfielder has been a revelation at the Bundesliga side, and attracted interest from all over Europe for a summer transfer, which includes the Magpies.
The belief at the time was that quite possible any transfer would see them break the €43m transfer record set by the deal between the Bundesliga club and Arsenal for Granit Xhaka.
This comes relayed by Fussball Transfers, where it’s said that Gladbach have lowered their price for the player ahead of the upcoming window.
It’s said that while there was originally talk of a €45m fee, the club are ‘now willing to talk from as little as €30m’ for the Newcastle target.
There is ‘no shortage of interested parties’ in the player, with big names such as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain also keen.
The 21-year-old has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Borussia Mönchengladbach this season, scoring one goal and setting up another.
