Last month, Ruhr Nachrichten explained Leicester City are showing interest in signing Borussia Dortmund’s Mahmoud Dahoud in the summer.
The Germany international has a deal expiring in June and the Bundesliga side’s chief, Sebastian Kehl, has confirmed they will not extend his contract.
Dahoud remains focused on finishing the season with BVB amid claims of interest from Leicester and other clubs.
Reports in Germany have insisted the midfielder has four suitors and it includes the Foxes, AC Milan, Napoli and Sevilla.
According to Estadio Deportivo, the La Liga side will find it ‘almost impossible’ to sign the player for free in the summer because of what the likes of Leicester and others could offer him financially.
The 27-year-old earns between €4m and €5m net per year at Dortmund and intends to earn a similar salary at his new club.
The Spanish club wouldn’t be in a position to meet this, leaving Brendan Rodgers’ side and the two Serie A clubs ahead of them in the race.
With Dahoud set to leave BVB, it remains to be seen if Leicester will be able to secure his services in the summer.
