Back in January, many reports from the Italian media talked about Napoli’s pursuit for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.

It had been claimed that the Serie A side even were in constant talks with the 27-year-old’s entourage, but never managed to agree a deal with the player, who preferred to stay at the Molineux for now.

It turns out this rumour is still alive, with the Italian press still wondering if Napoli will make a new effort for the Wolves player.

Asked about that today, journalist Ciro Venerato ended up ruling out that possibility. That was done live on 1 Station Radio, where he claimed it’s unlikely the Serie A side are achieving that signing.

“I believe that Napoli will always work on that role, but preferring profiles with a more accessible cost,” said Ciro Venerato (via Calcio Napoli 24).

“The problem still exists on the salary, since the club has the strength to invest in the signing.”

“Giuntoli has already shown that he knows how to track down talent, even if it is less known. “

Since returning from his loan at Barcelona last season, Traore only has two goals and one assist in 27 appearances for Wolves.

His contract with the Molineux side expires at the end of the season, so all Napoli need to do is to reach a personal agreement and get him signed on a free transfer.

Now despite the problems with his salary requests, since the Serie A side could be making big sales next summer, perhaps they’ll have more money to invest on his wages by then.
