Burnley defender Jordan Beyer has hailed manager Vincent Kompany, claiming the Belgian is ‘positively obsessed’ with football.

Kompany has proven to be a huge hit at Turf Moor since arriving as the new permanent manager in the summer, completely reshaping the squad and the style of football they play.

The Clarets are now a free flowing, attractive footballing side under his leadership and that has seen them rise to the top of the Championship table with a tally of 69 points from 31 games.

They are on course to be one of the best sides in the history of the division, with some predicting that they could break the records point tally if they continue as they have this season.

That remains to be seen but it appears they are in safe hands with Kompany, who is making an impression on his current squad.

“He is positively obsessed with football, very perfectionist and goes into every detail,” he told Rheinische Post.

“I think that’s exactly what makes us so strong this season. We analyse every game carefully and know that despite the many victories, we are not yet at our maximum.

“We are never satisfied with what we have achieved and we are all pulling in the same direction, but there is still room for improvement.”

While Kompany will almost certainly be at Burnley next season, it’s debatable whether Beyer will be there alongside him.

He is currently on loan at Turf Moor but that deal does not include a purchase option, meaning Burnley will be forced into negotiations with Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of the season if they wish to keep the player.

That seems likely given the key role he has played for them this season and his impressive performances, which have seen him labelled ‘Beckenbeyer’ by some.

He would certainly like to play in the Premier League too, but insists he’ll wait and see what happens rather than pushing it.

“Of course the Premier League would be appealing, it’s a great league with an extremely high level,” he added.

“But I also have a club in Gladbach that means a lot to me. I can’t say what will happen in the summer, I’ll let that come to me.”
