Tiémoué Bakayoko is one of a handful of AS Monaco players who have been repeatedly linked with Manchester United recently. There are several possible transfer floated between the two clubs, and earlier this month Sport Witness looked at the suitability of the players linked.
Bakayoko stood out as being just what Manchester United need in defensive midfield. His presence in a defensive role would bring something to Jose Mourinho’s team, and, like Michaael Carrick, he’s adept at sweeping the ball up and turning defence into attack quickly.
L’Equipe believe a deal could be done at around €40m to €45m, which is certainly within the grasp of Mourinho and Manchester United.
Bakayoko refusing a contract extension will only make a summer move likelier. The player’s current deal ends in June 2019, and whilst that presents no immediate panic for Monaco, it would mean a summer exit is much likelier than if the player extended further.
