When the news came out that Christian Eriksen would be missing a few months due to injury, Manchester United activated themselves on the transfer market quickly.
A few midfielders were looked at, but they ultimately decided to loan Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich, who has already impressed under Erik ten Hag.
The Austrian is expected to return to Bavaria at the end of the season as things stand, but that doesn’t mean he could also extend his stay at Manchester United.
This is, at least, what Florian Plettenberg hints at on Monday on Twitter, as he reveals the latest he has learned about the player’s situation at Old Trafford.

He wrote: ‘The Manchester United board are totally confident with his performances in the last few days. They his strength physically. His future is still open. Been told again it’s a straight loan, but Bayern are very open to selling him. Laimer could replace him instead’.
A lot will come down to the player’s performances over the next few months, with Manchester United set for a busy schedule, but these early days have been promising for Sabitzer.
The 28-year-old, prior to signing for the Red Devils, had made 54 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring two goals and picking up two assists, which is a very different stat line to his 52 goals and 42 assists in 229 games for RB Leipzig before that.
