The Italian media today reveals an attempt from Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Maxime Lopez from Sassuolo in January.
That’s written by Sassuolo News, who claims the Seagulls actually had a whole operation to get the midfielder signed.
It’s written that Roberto De Zerbi, who had previously managed Lopez at Sassuolo, wanted the player to work with him once again.
The problem is that the Serie A side ‘refused’ the sale, as they believe him to be an ‘asset’ for the club, despite the little use they had been making of him this year.
Sassuolo had already lost Hamed Junior Traore to Bournemouth, and that was another reason to hold Lopez.
The story doesn’t say how much Brighton had offered for the Frenchman, and doesn’t bring any sign of whether Brighton could be back for him in the net summer, but since he seems to be a desire from manager De Zerbi, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the manager trying for his signing again.
