It’s been a while since we covered how Nikola Vlasic was doing over in Italy, as he is currently on loan at Torino from West Ham United.
Unable to convince David Moyes at the London Stadium, the Croatian was shipped off to Turin on a loan with an option to buy set at around €15m.
He excelled immediately under Ivan Juric, and early reports claimed that it was really only a matter of time before the clause would be triggered and the money would be sent to West Ham, but that has yet to happen.
One of the reasons, it seems, is because Torino have quite a few loans with options to buy in their squad at the moment (seven) and also have to decide who they want to renew from the five players currently on expiring contracts.
Those the ones for Ivan Ilic, Aleksei Miranchuk and, of course, Nikola Vlasic, because they are either top players with great potentials or have been in fine form.
For West Ham, this is good news, since they will want to recoup as much of their initial expenditure, which was around €27m, especially if they were to surprisingly go back down to the Championship.
The Hammers, despite two great seasons in the past two years, have struggled this campaign, and find themselves 16th after 22 games, just two points above the relegation zone.
