Wolves player’s agent has made fresh attempt for transfer this week – Travelled for talks

Super-agent Jorge Mendes has again offered Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Rúben Neves to Barcelona, but manager Xavi is not convinced.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the agent arrived in Barcelona on Wednesday to discuss several issues with the Catalan giants.

The newspaper says that he met with Barcelona’s ‘top brass’ this week, first to communicate the interest of several clubs in Ansu Fati and then to discuss a renewal for Alejandro Balde.

He also used the opportunity to bring up the name of Neves, who has been linked to Barcelona as a potential replacement for Sergio Busquets since last summer.

He is seen in ‘some spheres of the club’ as the ideal man to replace the Spaniard, whose contract expires this summer and could be set to depart the Camp Nou.

That’s something Mendes has been working on for a while and the Wolves’ man’s name ‘reappeared’ into discussions when he travelled to meet Barcelona this week.

It seems he needs to work on convincing Xavi, though, as he sees the player as ‘lacking’ in that position and would prefer a move for Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi if and when they look to strengthen there.
