On the pitch in the 3-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, Liverpool’s Naby Keïta could be playing his final games for Liverpool.

Bought for a handsome fee of €60m from RB Leipzig back in 2018, the Guinea international has never managed to be the star many expected him to be at Anfield.

Injuries have been a main part of his struggles at Liverpool, and while Jürgen Klopp has defended him and played him when fit, it’s never really worked out.

That’s why, with a contract expiring in the summer, he could be allowed to leave on a free, as per Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg on Twitter.

The journalist took to the social media platform to reveal that the 27-year-old is ‘on the verge of leaving’ Liverpool as a free agent in the summer.

That’s because a ‘contract extension is unlikely at this stage’, and ‘many clubs are interested in signing him’.

However, one team he will not be joining are Galatasaray, while a return to Germany ‘is not excluded’.

At Liverpool for five years, Keïta has only been able to play 127 games in all competitions for the club, scoring 11 goals and picking up seven assists.

In comparison, he made 71 appearances in two years for Leipzig, scoring 17 goals and assisting his teammates 15 times.
