Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte today shares some news regarding Manchester City loanee Nahuel Ferrerasi.

The São Paulo defender recently had a knee injury, and according to the report, he’s going through surgery on Sunday.

The recovery is expected to last ‘between six and nine months’, and it’s claimed that he should stay in Brazil for that period in a decision made by Manchester City and the Tricolor.

São Paulo had been interested in renewing his loan for longer, and the story claims that the injury has not changed their plans.

Ferraresi’s spell at the club was supposed to last until the summer, but the Tricolor would like to renew it until the end of 2024, or, at the very least, midway through 2024.

Since a purchase for Manchester City is expected to be too expensive, as there’s a €6m buying option in the contract, São Paulo have ‘ruled out’ that possibility for now, and should only negotiate a loan.

Ferraresi joined the Premier League side back in 2017, but has never had a chance to play for the club.

Therefore, perhaps a good negotiation would end up being a good way to sell him down the line after he’s recovered from this latest setback.
