As soon as the news came out that Christian Eriksen would be out for the next three months, it was expected that Manchester United would make one last move in the transfer window.

It came soon after, as it became clear that Erik ten Hag had pinpointed Bayern Munich’s Marcel Sabitzer as the replacement he wanted, and the Red Devils duly got in touch with their German counterparts to get a deal done.

That is now well on its way, as is the player, who was spotted at Munich airport ahead of his move to England, with Manchester United more than likely his destination.

However, he isn’t the only player the Old Trafford side looked at, with news from France, via Foot Mercato, emerging that they also took a quick glance at Houssem Aouar.

The Lyon player, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League quite a few times, is out of contract in the summer, and certainly could be a cheap option.

Manchester United are said to have ‘asked for information’ about the Frenchman, and ‘are ready to take on the entirety of the player’s wages’ in what would be a paid loan.

Despite this, it’s pointed out that Sabitzer ‘is well on his way’ to being Eriksen’s replacement, even if anything can happen between now and the end of the transfer window.
