Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Nélson Semedo has been identified as a target for Benfica.
The Portugal international spent five years with the Eagles before leaving them for Barcelona in 2017. He was at the Camp Nou for three seasons and then moved to Molineux in 2020.
Semedo has established himself as the first choice right-back at Wolves and the managerial changes at the club have not had an impact on his position.
The defender’s former club seem to have their eyes set on him. CNN Portugal, relayed by O Jogo, state Benfica ‘dream’ of signing the 29-year-old after this season because he has a contract expiring in June.
Semedo earns €4m per year at Wolves and this is currently the ‘biggest obstacle’ for the Portuguese club to sign him.
It needs to be seen whether Benfica will still dream of signing the fullback should Wolves exercise the option to extend his deal.
