Universidad de Chile’s Darío Osorio has ended up on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, according to a report from South America.
The 19-year-old came up through the ranks of Universidad de Chile’s academy and made his way into their first team in 2021. The versatile forward, who mainly operates on the right wing, scored seven goals from 27 matches last year.
Chilean newspaper Las Últimas Noticias now claim the teenager has been sounded out by both Tottenham and Aston Villa.
The English sides are in the mix to sign the attacker, several months after Wolverhampton Wanderers came forward for him.
Wolves were unable to carry out a deal last summer and it is unlikely Antonio Conte’s side or the Villans would be able to secure the Chile international’s services in January.
LUN had a chat with the player’s mother, Alicia Osorio, where she was asked whether her son would make a switch to Europe after being sounded out by Tottenham and Aston Villa.
“Last year, when he got the real proposal [from Wolves], we thought we’d go with him. Eyes closed, I catch my partner and we leave. It was already terrible that he was alone in Santiago, so not in another country and not so far away,” Alicia said.
“We would go with him until he gets used to it. But for now, Dario just wants to play. He wants to continue in the South American and return to La U [Universidad de Chile]. He’s not thinking about leaving.”
