Following some rather meek efforts to try and sign Pedro Porro from Sporting CP, it appears Tottenham are looking elsewhere now to bolster their right-back slot.
Names such as Wilfried Singo had been mentioned in the past, but it’s now to Spain that Fabio Paratici has turned his gaze, if Tuttosport are to be believed.
The man Tottenham are looking at is Ivan Fresneda, who has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, but rarely to Spurs.
That’s because the club were too busy focusing their efforts on Porro, but that has changed, and the Italian website state while Juventus are interested, Borussia Dortmund’s competition is ‘not a concrete track’.
What is, however, is the interest from England, where Newcastle have been mentioned, but Tuttosport now add ‘in particular Fabio Paratici’s Tottenham and Antonio Conte’, whose idea is to ‘dive into Fresneda should they fail to sign’ the Sporting CP star.
Considering the latest from Portugal was that Spurs could give up following their latest effort, that now seems almost likely.
Therefore, Tottenham and Fresneda could be a match made in heaven, even if he does seem a bit young (he’s still only 18) to tick all the criteria Conte will be looking for when it comes to his new right-back recruitment.
